Practicality

Hard to believe, but today is our last day in Utah! Maybe I’ll just stay here, rather than making the long trip back. This vacation has been one of the most enjoyable and relaxing family vacations we’ve had. I’ve loved discovering new parts of the city, trying new restaurants and simply spending time with my family. I’ll recap my trip in photos tomorrow, so stay tuned for that! Here’s the breakdown:

Dress: Tucker for Target via Garage sale
Sandals: Forever 21
Sunnies: Franco Sarto via Marshalls
Bag: Garage sale (similar and inexpensive here and here!)
Watch: Garage sale
Bracelets: Forever 21/My grandma’s

Park City tends to be pretty warm in the sunshine, so I need a cool and short dress yesterday to walk around the downtown area. I’ve also rediscovered the practicality of the crossbody bag for a hands-free experience. I’m so glad I brought  a few of these bags to carry throughout the week!

Are we really that old?

The weekend was, as usual, a blur. Besides doing a little shopping and working, I attended a friend’s baby shower. I’m getting to that point in life when a lot of friends are beginning to get married and have kids, which is exciting but also weird. Can we possibly be old enough to act like grownups? To be parents? I guess so. But it’s still weird. And exciting. Here’s the breakdown:

Dress: Tucker for Target via Garage sale
Flats: Vera by Vera Wang via Kohl’s
Bag: Brahmin (c/o Vogue)
Sunnies: Forever 21
Earrings: Gift (similar here)
Watch: Garage sale
Bracelets: Dillard’s/Forever 21/Goodwill/My grandma’s

My dress is my latest and greatest garage-sale find in my closet. I found it last Friday for only a dollar, and I have a feeling it’s going to come in handy for the summer wedding season. My new flats coordinated perfectly with the print, and these flats are proof that you don’t have to buy immediately whatever catches your eye. I saw these back in March, contemplated buying them when they went on sale, but then waited until they went on clearance for $12 (down from $60) to buy them. Success!

Layered pieces

Yesterday was glorious, and today is forecast not to disappoint, either. I’m working remotely as an intern and as a freelance writer until I find a full-time job, so nothing is better to me than working at home while the windows are allowing the mild summer breeze inside. Here’s the breakdown:

Chambray Blouse: Goodwill
Dress: Tucker for Target via Goodwill
Wedges: Relativity via Carsons
Bag: Maurizio Taiuti via Garage sale
Belt: Rue21 (part of a shirt)
Sunnies: Rue21 (similar)
Watch: Garage sale
Cuff: H&M
Bracelets: Forever 21/Goodwill

I have paired this dress with everything from an olive-green blazer and vest to a denim jacket. I was looking for something slightly different this morning as I browsed my closet. I loved the idea of chambray with it, but rather than wearing the blouse underneath the dress as I’d normally do, I switched it up and layered it on top, almost like a jacket. A skinny belt and other cognac accessories make the outfit feel complete.

How I became a “dress-girl”

This is going to be one busy weekend: a bridal shower, my university’s annual bike race and a Cincinnati Reds game. Add homework on top of that, and you’ve got a packed but fun weekend. What are your plans this weekend? Here’s the breakdown:

Denim Jacket: Abercrombie & Fitch via Garage sale
Dress: Tucker for Target via Goodwill
Sandals: Elle via Kohl’s
Belt: Rue21
Watch: American Eagle
Bracelets: Forever 21/My grandma’s/Garage sale

This is the ultimate classy yet comfortable look for me. For the majority of my life, I was a jeans girl, but because of the nature of my internship last summer, I became equal parts jeans-girl and skirts/dresses-girl. This particular dress is probably my favorite when paired with a jacket; normally I pair it with an olive green blazer or cargo jacket, but I like the casual look the denim jacket brings.

Have a great weekend!

I put some new boots on

Clearly this outfit exemplifies my excitement for the Super Bowl and the fact that the game itself was played less than an hour away in Indianapolis. Clearly, being the poor college student I am, I could afford to pay thousands of dollars to go to Indy to watch the game. Clearly I am being sarcastic and couldn’t really care who won the Super Bowl … just as long as it isn’t the Patriots. Here’s the breakdown:

Sweater: LOFT via Garage sale
Dress (worn as skirt): Tucker for Target via Goodwill
Tights: Gap
Boots: Talbots (c/o a gift card from Vogue)
Bag: Brahmin (c/o Vogue)
Ring: Banana Republic
Nails: Zoya’s Veruschka

This outfit is a little usual for me because of all the color involved. During this time of year, I typically depend heavily on my closet stocked with neutrals and winter-appropriate colors. It must be the spring-like weather we’re having that inspired me  to pair this dress with bright green and yellow. Minimal accessories plus my new favorite boots completed the look.
