Hello from beautiful Salt Lake City! Liz and I spent Saturday driving the 14 hours from Omaha to SLC. The landscape here is gorgeous right now — everything is in bloom, and spring is in full force.

Starting the Monday off with colored leather, which is a trend I never thought I’d be one to take part in. But when paired with colors in the same family and a pop of print, I think the trend is just right.

Gingham and army green

I’m a neutrals junkie (my closet is filled with them), but when spring fever hits, colors start making appearances. Take this pink gingham blouse, for example. Bright sunshine and this blouse were made for each other. I do find that I still incorporate lots of neutrals into my spring wardrobe — just in lighter, warm-weather appropriate colors (like this army green vest or taupe bag).

Is it Friday yet?

Spending spring in stripes

Just a little early-morning shopping trip. This spring, I plan on living in stripes … along with these destroyed boyfriend jeans. Isn’t this necklace fun? I found it at Francesca’s for $10. Score!

Happy Wednesday! This week is flying by. It’s been a busy one, but a productive one (the best kind).

A flats kind of day

Between parade-watching and brunch al fresco on Saturday, the only viable option for shoes was flats. I picked up these flats a few weeks ago (along with these) and was happy for the chance to be able to wear them on such a beautiful and perfect-weather morning. Sometimes only flats will do, you know?

So tell me: Are you a flats-only type of girl? A heels-only type of girl? Or a little of both?

Spring uniform

Every season I seem to pick a few key pieces that become my go-to when I wake up in the morning and feel as though I have nothing to wear. This spring (while it remains relatively cool and mild), my uniform is going to consist of boyfriend jeans and sweatshirts. (Further proof here that sweatshirts are overtaking my closet.)

By the way, I picked up this sweatshirt at my local Gap for $6! I couldn’t find the exact sweatshirt online, so be sure to stop in your local store to see if they have any left.

Just how did Monday get here so quickly? My weekend was full but in the best way possible. My friends and I spent Friday night bowling, then headed downtown on Saturday morning to Omaha’s St. Patrick’s Day parade where we ate al fresco and watched the parade march by. In between all that, we managed to catch a jazz show and a walk in the park. Weekend, please get here quickly!
