Welcome back from the long weekend! How was your Fourth of July? Mine was packed; my friends and I headed to a huge festival on Friday and came back to the city just as dusk hit — and seeing the fireworks across Omaha was amazing. Then we celebrated my friends’ new house with a luau housewarming party.
We had a huge heatwave hit yesterday, and other than going to the pool, the only way to beat the heat is to wear a dress. This one is perfect because it has a slightly open back and is above the knee — everything I need to try to keep cool in the humidity we’ve been having lately.
This has been my uniform as of late: flowing cardigans and boots. Whatever I can wear to stay warm, I will wear. And yes, even though I wear contacts and have real glasses, I am indeed wearing fake glasses. They were too cute to pass up; also, it didn’t help that Elizabeth was there to pressure me into buying them (so she could wear them).
What’s on your plate for the weekend? I’m going to a Winter Olympics opening ceremony viewing party tonight and can’t wait to unwind after an insanely busy work week.
This was post-turkey coma weekend outfit. Slouchy pants with an elastic waistband, and you really can’t go wrong. I’ve had this vest for a couple of months, and it has been waiting for the perfect moment to be worn. The contrast of slouchy with the structured vest works so well for me, and I’m thinking these pants might become a weekend staple.
All this cool weather has me in the mood for wearing plaid. Even better than plaid? Mixing it with other textures, like wool and sequins! This blouse is the absolute best, and if I were completely honest, I don’t plan on taking it off this weekend.
Weekend plans, anyone? I’m headed to a game night tonight, and the rest of the weekend is wide open. I’m imagining a little cleaning (glamorous, right?) and finishing up the book I’m reading.
Top: TJ Maxx (peplum version) | Skirt: Gap (similar) | Heels: ShoeDazzle (similar) | Bag: Phillip Lim for Target (sold out online; designer version) | Ring: Forever 21 | Watch: Garage sale | Bracelets: Forever 21/My grandma’s
Yesterday I woke up bright and early to head to the nearest Target to snag a bag or two from the 3.1 Phillip Lim collection. The only problem? That store didn’t carry the collection. Luckily the next Target I headed to had a good-sized collection and was basically untouched! I found the two bags I’d had my eye on (see them here).
I think mustard yellow is one of the most versatile colors to pair with other colors — especially the wine color of my top. For September’s staple post, I wanted to go beyond the neutrals I’ve tended to pair the skirt with this year, and the color pop of my new bag against my top seemed just right!
Tell me: Did you manage to get something from the Phillip Lim collection?
