So far, Utah has been a blast. Today will only be our third full day here, which means plenty of adventures are still to come. Yesterday was spent exploring Salt Lake City (which is actually my birthplace), so I got to see our old house and stompin’ grounds. The downtown area is beautiful, too. Can I stay here, please? Here’s the breakdown:
Sandals: Maurices (similar here)
Sunnies: Franco Sarto via Marshalls
Watch: Garage sale
Bracelets: Dillard’s/Nadria (c/o Vogue)
Bag: Delia’s (very affordable version here)
Obviously stripes were a must-pack for me, and luckily I found this very nautical Gap shirt a few weeks ago (and somehow had the patience to save it until vacation). For a relatively hot day, a simple yet colorful short-and-T-shirt combo were absolutely necessary.
This was easily the most relaxing weekend all semester, and the relaxation was much-needed. With no homework left and no final exams to study for, I had the opportunity to meet my parents for an early Mother’s Day lunch (wearing a maxi dress, of course) and catch up on some magazine reading. Here’s the breakdown:
Chambray Blouse: Garage sale (similar here)
Skirt: Elle via Kohl’s
Bag: Brahmin (c/o Vogue)
Sunnies: Steve Madden via TJ Maxx
Rings: Charming Charlie
Nails: Essie’s Orange, It’s Obvious
As I mentioned in Friday’s post, maxi skirts are the ultimate in comfort. This skirt is no different, and I can’t wait to see it transition to fall. For now, though, it’s gladiator sandals and lightweight spring separates, like my favorite cargo vest and chambray blouse (which I got for $1 at a garage sale a few years ago).
Thanksgiving break is almost here. Almost. Unfortunately for me, I have a night class tomorrow night that goes until 9:30, which means I either get home late at night or drive back early in the morning. Why can’t professors understand our need to get home, cut us a little slack, and cancel classes? Here’s the breakdown:
Tank: The Limited (via my roommate)
Sweater: Maurice’s (via my roommate)
Skirt: TJ Maxx
Booties: Elder Beerman
Earrings: Garage sale
Bag: Garage sale
My roommate Liz had this beautiful shirt of hers hanging on her closet door, and she allowed me to wear it (lucky for me). I knew instantly it’d have to be paired with a high-waisted skirt. This one is a little long, which is great because of the recent obsession with longer hemlines.
The texture of these tights is amazing, and I felt I could get away with them looking polished and not cheap with a longer skirt. However, the tights and the skirt did not like me walking anywhere, so I added a slip. Unbeknownst to me, the slip was popping out of the hemline, but I actually liked the look. It added a little more texture to the overall look.
Did I mention it was windy?
Oh, summer, why can’t you just let go? I’m ready to wear boots, blazers, sweaters, drink hot pumpkin spice lattes, and feel cold for the first time in awhile. If only nature would obey, I would be one happy girl. Maybe it’ll happen this weekend, which I can’t wait for; this week has been hectic, to say the least. Here’s the breakdown:
Tee: TJ Maxx (American Eagle)
Necklace: Garage sale
I love this necklace. When I picked it up the first time after buying it at a garage sale, it broke. It was well worth the hour or so that it took to put back together. Well worth it. It’s relatively heavy, so it’s no wonder it broke. I figured that I’d leave off any more accessorizing, considering the necklace is massive.
I’d also like to note that I’m sick of wearing shorts. I need to wear jeans. ASAP.
Does anybody else have crazy hot weather and need fall to get here soon?
Apparently summer didn’t get the memo that fall is officially here. The next few days are in the 90’s, and without air conditioning, my dorm is unbearable. I might just live at Starbucks for the next few days, or at least in the student union where it is air conditioned. Here’s the breakdown:
Shorts: Garage sale (Tommy Hilfiger)
Bracelets: Elder Beerman
Shades: TJ Maxx (Steve Madden)
Today is all about staying as cool as possible, which means not a lot of thought as far as the outfit goes. I do love the fit of this top and the cool detailing at the waist; can I get an amen for how great it’d also be under a blazer with a chunky necklace? You can’t forget just a touch of animal skin, hence my bracelets. The texture on them is amazing.
The necklace I’m wearing was a gift from my parents last year at Christmas, and it has a picture of my brother and me in it. It’s a good reminder of home while I’m away at college. Lucky for me, I’m going home this weekend, and I’m also going to a music festival on Saturday!
The weekend can’t come soon enough.
