Vest: Target | T-Shirt: Gap | Denim: Elle via Kohl’s | Brogues: Target | Bag: Brahmin (c/o Vogue) | Sunnies: Lauren Conrad via Kohl’s
After styling my staple of the month (this denim vest) two dressed-up ways (here and here), I wanted something slightly more casual. I picked up this tee from Gap a few weekends ago and love the vibrancy of it paired with these hot pink skinny jeans.
So I’ve paired with vest with a dress, a skirt and jeans. What would you like to see for the last May staple post?
Jacket: Loft | Sweater: Loft | Denim: Elle via Kohl’s | Wedges: Relativity | Bag: Francesca’s
Orange is very quickly taking over my closet. I searched for a few weeks for an orange bag and found one at Francesca’s, only to find more and more orange items (like these wedges) making their way into my wardrobe the following weeks. Who knew orange accessories could be so versatile? Even come fall, these will work into my wardrobe perfectly!
Vest: Target | Dress: Francesca’s | Shoes: Elder Beerman | Bag: Brahmin (c/o Vogue) | Earrings: Gift | Bracelets: Forever 21/My grandma’s | Watch: Kohl’s
I decided to venture into something slightly different with this month’s staple; rather than doing just a top, a bottom or a dress, I went with a layering piece that I have the feeling will be used more than just four times this month. I refused to do the denim vest trend for a while, just because it reminded me so much of my childhood. Then I thought, Why should I fear my childhood? I had a good childhood, filled with 90s backpacks, flower-printed jeans and — yes — denim vests. So here’s to embracing your childhood and ending up with a piece that is quickly becoming a weekly layering piece.
Trench: Forever 21 | Striped T-Shirt: Gap | Denim: Elle via Kohl’s | Flats: Relativity va Elder Beerman | Bag: Vintage | Sunnies: Lauren Conrad via Kohl’s | Ring: Charming Charlie
Sometimes the best outfits are those that need minimal accessories beyond a fantastic (vintage) bag, a bright pop of color and poppy lipstick. These pieces are what I reach for on those mornings when I feel I have absolutely nothing to wear. Nothing says springtime like nautical stripes and a trench.
What pieces in your closet do you reach for when you “having nothing to wear”?
Top: Elle via Kohl’s | Pants: Gap | Booties: Target (last year) | Necklace: Forever 21 | Bag: Brahmin (c/o Vogue ) | Sunnies: Lauren Conrad via Kohl’s
After pairing these pants all month with different shades of blue and mixed prints (here, here and here), it was time to mix it up. This peplum top adds a bit of flare and needed texture to the outfit, and sometimes all you need to complete an outfit is a staple bag and a chunky necklace.
How was your weekend? I spent it outside, exploring new neighborhoods, relaxing on our balcony and watching The Big Wedding (yay for chick flicks!).
