The outfits I feel most “me” in always involve pieces that I turn to season after season. This leopard blouse is one that I’ve had for years, and despite many closet clean-out sessions, it has made the cut every time. When it’s a print you love in a fit that’s flattering … well, you just don’t give it up that easily.
What pieces in your closet make you feel like “you”?
I can’t get enough of this sweatshirt. It was one of the pieces I was eyeing from the Peter Pilotto collection from Target (along with this dress and this jacket). The mix of prints is unbelievable, and I can’t wait to continue rocking this sweatshirt well into the cool spring months.
How was your weekend? I spent a lot of it watching the Olympics and doing a marathon shopping day on Saturday (when I bought this Jane Austen-inspired Kate Spade pencil pouch that I’ve been using as a clutch).
After a relatively snow-less winter, we finally got hit with a big snowstorm last week — and I won’t complain at all. Winter hasn’t truly felt like winter without snow. I thought a fair isle sweater was oh-so-appropriate for our first major snow here in Omaha, along with comfy extras and fluffy earmuffs. (Please excuse the awkward “snow is blowing in my face and I can barely keep my eyes open” faces in these photos.)
Did you enjoy the opening ceremony on Friday? Ever since then, I’ve been glued to the TV, trying to watch as many of the events as possible.
Sweater: Loft (on crazy sale for a limited time) | Shirt: Loft (also on crazy sale right now) | Denim: Elle (similar) | Flats: BDG (similar) | Necklace: TJ Maxx (love this similar pearl version) | Bag: Vintage Coach (updated version)
Recently I’ve been drawn to any piece that has interesting texture — and this sweater/jacket combo was right up my alley. From the interesting yarn they used to knit each row with a bit of silver thread here and there to the leather trim around neck and zipper, this piece just called my name. For even more added interest, I paired it with snakeskin flats and a chunky necklace. Texture overload … but I like it.
Like the rest of the country, we are absolutely freezing here in Omaha. I love wearing warm, cozy sweaters, which I can get away with in my apartment (which stays fairly cool in the winter); however, when popping in and out of stores or working for an afternoon at a coffee shop, I never know if the place is going to be burning hot or freezing cold. That’s why an outfit like this is perfect for a cold day; layers make it easy for me to be comfortable no matter where I’m at. (And in case you were wondering, I did wear a coat on the day these pictures were taken.)
