Never in a million years did I think I’d be wearing jeans and a blazer in the middle of July sans being in an air-conditioned building. But thanks to the summer version of the polar vortex, this outfit happened. I’ll take a few 60-degree July days that allow me to wear jeans any day!
How was your weekend? Mine was filled with wedding activities (my cousin got married in a beautiful ceremony on Saturday) and catching up with friends and family. I’m off to Chicago tomorrow for wedding number two!

Oh-so happy Friday! I’m ready for the weekend to be here and to have a few days off to spend time with family and friends (hello, wedding weekend).
I tried to pack *relatively* light for my two-week trip; I’ve discovered the key to packing lighter than normal is to pack neutrals. Everything goes together so well that I don’t feel the need to throw in those extra shirts or that additional pair of jeans. Leopard is a neutral to me, and with the forecast so cool this week, I knew I’d have the opportunity to wear these pants a few times.

After ranting about how few dresses I owned that I actually liked, I found this chiffon dress at Kohl’s for a steal of a deal — in one of my favorite colors! For as much as I love neutrals, I seem to gravitate toward orange fairly often. Usually I end up purchasing accessories in orange, but this dress was so light in such a fun color that I couldn’t pass it up (especially with wedding mania beginning this weekend).

For the farmers market on Sunday, I made the not-so-smart decision to wear a maxi dress. It was crazy hot and crazy humid, and I definitely would have been better off with shorts. But we must suffer for the sake of fashion, right? I do love this maxi, particularly when paired with a big floppy hat (the ideal sun protection) and a straw bag (the perfect bag for picking up produce at the market).

We’ve had the perfect summer weather here in Omaha lately. Yesterday, the high only reached 72, and Liz, Jeni and I took advantage of the break in heat to catch Shakespeare on the Green (you can see pics on my Instagram). We packed a cooler full of cheese, crackers, olives, chocolate and wine and spent last night watching the complete works of Shakespeare (abridged). It was hilarious, and if you ever get the chance to experience something like that in your city, take advantage!
After tearing my last black maxi skirt and being without one for a couple of years, I finally found one at Target that was both inexpensive but well-fitting. Score! And Old Navy lately has been killing it in the graphic tee department.
I’ll see you on the flip side of the long weekend. Happy Independence Day!
