There’s nothing I love more than playing with tough accents, such as the faux leather sleeves on this blazer, boyfriend jeans or this handcuffs necklace from Berricle. As I mentioned in yesterday’s quirky jewelry post, I love baubles with a twist, so when Berricle approached me to test-drive some jewelry, I went digging! They have great options that are an affordable price, and you can find anything from a great classic piece to something with a little eccentricity. Isn’t the handcuffs necklace so fun?

I can’t get enough of this scarf! After pairing it with bright red yesterday, I wanted to play off the blue in the plaid — and this outfit was born. And who’d have thought these blue heels would become a closet heavy-hitter for me? It seems I wear them almost once a week (proof here and here). I have the feeling my plaid scarf is going to become a surprise staple, too. I love it when that happens!

After a crazy and difficult week at work, this weekend was just what I needed: a game night with friends, relaxing afternoons reading, a little bit of shopping. And now I’m feeling refreshed and ready to take on this Monday! Plus, with this little guy on my shirt, why wouldn’t I be ready to conquer the work week?
I love buying pre-season clothes because you essentially get two “shopping” experiences: the first happens when you buy the item from the store, and the second happens when the weather finally cooperates and you’ve forgotten all the goodies you bought a few weeks earlier, only to discover that one item amidst the others in your closet. It really is like a second purchasing experience (but without spending more money – so does that mean I’m saving money?).
All kidding aside, this sweater was one of those pre-season purchases waiting to be worn once the weather cooled down. Rather than pair it with something expected (chambray or a white blouse), I went for a rich jewel tone. I love the result and think I might try layering a polka-dot blouse underneath next time.

Up until this week, we’ve had a very mild, fairly warm fall. Thankfully, it’s been completely appropriate weather for boyfriend jeans. Indoors, however, is a different question (a toss-up between freezing AC and very [almost too] warm). A blazer is just what is needed for the transitional season — particularly a blazer that plays off the leather accents on my shirt.
This mild fall weather is moving out though, and cooler weather is replacing it, which calls for lots of warm drinks, blankets, sweaters and boots!
