Personal style is just that: personal. Certain prints speak to some, while others are drawn to other prints. This is one of those prints that I love and have had my eye on since the Peter Som for Kohl’s collection debuted earlier this summer. I snatched the jacket up on super clearance ($15!), and I am so glad I did. I think the pineapples are super cute and very summer-esque, but the silhouette — a bomber jacket — and the color palette is perfect for fall.

P.S. Who else is glued to the TV this week? I love fall TV premiere week! What shows (new and old) are you watching and DVRing?

Channeling ‘Mad Men’

Sometimes the simplest outfits are the ones that make a girl feel the best. This dress is an oldie but a goodie, and I hadn’t yet pulled it out this summer. Liz mentioned that I kind of looked like I stepped off the set of Mad Men with the print of the dress and the shape of the heels (which are a bit of a throwback shape). As an avid Mad Men fan, I’ll definitely take that as a compliment.

(P.S. See above for some other in-store dresses from Gap that are catching my eye.)

Staple shorts

Back when I bought these shorts from Old Navy in the spring, I had no idea how much rotation they’d get from week to week. They’ve been on all the trips I’ve taken this summer and seem to go with so many tops I own. I’ve paired them with a crop topa graphic T-shirt and a printed sweatshirt. Needless to say, their cost-per-wear was well worth it (especially considering they were so affordable in the first place).

How was your weekend? It was a good one for me! The rain held off for the baseball game and concert Friday, then Saturday was spent at the downtown farmers market, grabbing some coffee, doing a little work, spending time by the pool, and getting my birthday celebrations underway a few days early.

My new neutral

My closet is filled with probably 75% neutrals, and of those, olive green is slowly overtaking my wardrobe. Somehow the color manages to feel fresh almost every season, including the perpetually awkward transition between summer and fall. These shorts will definitely be heavy hitters as we move closer to September; I love that they’re easy to dress up and dress down.

On the schedule for me this weekend: a baseball game and a concert! Other than those two events, my weekend is wide open — and I think I hear the pool calling my name. Have a good one!

Cold snap

Blazer: TJ Maxx | Tee: Gap | Denim: Elle | Wedges: Relativity | Bag: DVF | Bracelets: Forever 21

Never in a million years did I think I’d be wearing jeans and a blazer in the middle of July sans being in an air-conditioned building. But thanks to the summer version of the polar vortex, this outfit happened. I’ll take a few 60-degree July days that allow me to wear jeans any day!

How was your weekend? Mine was filled with wedding activities (my cousin got married in a beautiful ceremony on Saturday) and catching up with friends and family. I’m off to Chicago tomorrow for wedding number two!
