After a decidedly busy and full week, I spent my weekend doing one of the things I missed most during college: reading for pleasure. Nothing is quite so relaxing to me as sitting down with a good book, becoming lost in it and closing that last page with a sigh, knowing everything ended well (hopefully). My summer book pile is big, but I’m pretty sure I can get through it. Here’s the breakdown:
Shorts: Gap (very similar here for only $20)
Sandals: Salvation Army
Bag: Maurizio Taiuti via Garage sale (similar here or here [the color-blocked version])
Bracelets: My grandma’s/Garage sale/Goodwill
Nails: Revlon’s Sweet Tart and Whimsical
While my garage saling adventures did not go exactly as planned, my mom and I managed to stumble across a few while running errands. This Maurizio Taiuti bag, which is linen and leather, was a steal at only $5. My mom talked me into it, and the more I carried it this weekend, the more I grew to love it. The leather is already worn-in, and it’s spacious enough to carry more than enough necessities. The color begged to be paired with summery peaches-and-cream hues, so I gladly obligued.
Just a reminder that my nautical bracelet giveaway ends tonight at 11:59! There are multiple ways to enter, so if you don’t have Twitter, don’t fear! You can instead follow me on Facebook or Pinterest and still enter to win. Find out all the details here.
This is what happens when I wake up in the morning without having previously picked out my clothes the night before: I get really stressed and spend about 20 minutes pulling out clothes after clothes. Usually, I begin by not liking my first outfit at all, but after 17 minutes of trying different outfits, I always revert back to where I started. Here’s the breakdown:
Booties: DSW (Steve Madden)
Bracelets: Elder Beerman
Today was one of those days when I was running late and I hadn’t yet picked out my outfit. I ended up relying on my typical standard of dress: stripes and leopard. I had been wanting to save this outfit for a cooler fall day (read: not the 80-degree weather we’ve been having lately), but in my rush, I went ahead and wore it. Just as a warning, you may see this same outfit again.
Speaking of which, this is a slight remix from what I wore a few weeks ago (click here).
Have a great weekend!
I know I’ve mentioned my camera two times this week, but I’m going to mention it again: I absolutely love it! I can’t believe the quality between last week’s photos and this week’s photos. Best investment ever. Also, have I mentioned that I have the best roommate/photographer ever? Thanks, Liz! Here’s the breakdown:
Striped Tee: Sears
Leopard Loafers: Goodwill (Enzo Angiolini)
Clutch: Gift (BCBG)
Necklace: American Eagle
Watch/Bracelets: Garage sale/my grandma’s
Sunnies: Forever 21
My entire outfit was based on the fact that I wanted to wear these shorts. The weather here has been so mild that I really wanted to play with summer neutrals and keep everything soft. I added some interest with my three different prints (shirt, shorts and loafers), but they were all subtle enough that the mix worked. Nothing neutral about that!
After a morning and early afternoon of thunderstorms and tornado warnings, the sun decided to show itself. We were holed up all morning in the dorm waiting for the warning to be lifted, and then I holed myself up in the library all afternoon because tromping about in the rain all over campus just isn’t fun. But when I came out of the library, the sky was clear and the sun had dried up all the rain. Here’s the breakdown:
Plaid Button-Up: Garage sale
Tank: Old Navy
Jeggings: Old Navy
Flats: Old Navy
Hat: TJ Maxx (American Eagle)
Necklace: American Eagle
I wore this outfit a few weekends ago while it was a little chillier outside with rainboots, so when it was raining outside this morning, I put on my rainboots and the same outfit because I just loved it so much. After the sun came out and I put on these yellow flats, I realized I had on primary colors. Totally accidental. But I like it.
I also really like my hat. The elastic around the rim of it is so strong that it stays on my head all day, unlike many of my other hats that I had to pin on with bobbies. It also has this really cute pom-pom in the back. It will be so cute to wear as a beret in winter.
Homecoming was this past weekend, so although I’m a little late, I decided to show a little school spirit today. Nothing like a game day tee to get you in the mood for some football or soccer. Or some Converse tennies. Here’s the breakdown:
Tee: Campus store
Bracelets: Elder Beerman/Garage sale
I’ll admit that I feel a little dorky saying that I got some of my accessories from Claire’s. I rarely go, but when I do, I always find good stuff on sale. I love my Converse. The plaid in them has so many colors that are easy to match, like orange, green, and purple (hence the purple Taylor University shirt). I’m all about multi-functional shoes.
Also, I have been wanting a cognac-colored bag ever since I saw a girl carrying one around from Urban Outfitters. But seeing as how I didn’t want to pay $70 for it, I decided that this $10 one from Sears would do. Cognac is my new favorite color.
Fall break starts today! I’m actually going home after my last class at 11 and some lunch, so the next few posts will be while I’m at home. I’m all about home-cooked food and my own bed.
