If I could be anywhere in the world right now, it’d be London. Can you imagine how amazing the opening ceremony is going to be tonight (or technically this afternoon, considering we’re a few hours behind London). Unfortunately, I won’t get to watch any of the festivities for a few days, as we’re going camping. Guess I’ll have to YouTube it later. Here’s the breakdown:
This is the ultimate summer comfort look because the entire outfit transitions easily from indoors in the chilly AC (thank you, denim jacket) to outdoors in the stifling humidity (thank you, cotton dress). The look is easy and classically summertime when paired with leather sandals and a linen and leather bag.
Have a great weekend!
I ended up taking a day off of work to celebrate my bestie’s birthday yesterday! We spent the day shopping and eating cheesecake, and we both ended up finding some great deals! (She found a black-and-white high-low dress, and I found a bright orange skirt that will be perfection come fall.) Here’s the breakdown:
Peach shorts paired with a chambray blouse says summer to me. Both fabrics are light and easy, which is needed in the oppressive humidity. A swipe of peach lipstick was all I needed to complete the look. (I like Neutrogena’s peach lipstick, which is unfortunately discontinued.)
Yesterday was glorious, and today is forecast not to disappoint, either. I’m working remotely as an intern and as a freelance writer until I find a full-time job, so nothing is better to me than working at home while the windows are allowing the mild summer breeze inside. Here’s the breakdown:
Chambray Blouse: Goodwill
Dress: Tucker for Target via Goodwill
Wedges: Relativity via Carsons
Bag: Maurizio Taiuti via Garage sale
Belt: Rue21 (part of a shirt)
Sunnies: Rue21 (similar)
Watch: Garage sale
Bracelets: Forever 21/Goodwill
I have paired this dress with everything from an olive-green blazer and vest to a denim jacket. I was looking for something slightly different this morning as I browsed my closet. I loved the idea of chambray with it, but rather than wearing the blouse underneath the dress as I’d normally do, I switched it up and layered it on top, almost like a jacket. A skinny belt and other cognac accessories make the outfit feel complete.
After a decidedly busy and full week, I spent my weekend doing one of the things I missed most during college: reading for pleasure. Nothing is quite so relaxing to me as sitting down with a good book, becoming lost in it and closing that last page with a sigh, knowing everything ended well (hopefully). My summer book pile is big, but I’m pretty sure I can get through it. Here’s the breakdown:
Shorts: Gap (very similar here for only $20)
Sandals: Salvation Army
Bag: Maurizio Taiuti via Garage sale (similar here or here [the color-blocked version])
Bracelets: My grandma’s/Garage sale/Goodwill
Nails: Revlon’s Sweet Tart and Whimsical
While my garage saling adventures did not go exactly as planned, my mom and I managed to stumble across a few while running errands. This Maurizio Taiuti bag, which is linen and leather, was a steal at only $5. My mom talked me into it, and the more I carried it this weekend, the more I grew to love it. The leather is already worn-in, and it’s spacious enough to carry more than enough necessities. The color begged to be paired with summery peaches-and-cream hues, so I gladly obligued.
Just a reminder that my nautical bracelet giveaway ends tonight at 11:59! There are multiple ways to enter, so if you don’t have Twitter, don’t fear! You can instead follow me on Facebook or Pinterest and still enter to win. Find out all the details here.
This weekend’s plans don’t include much, other than doing a little work around the house and for my internship. However, this week officially begins garage sale season in the Wilson household, which means I’ll be gone all day today. On this summer’s list of items to hunt? Apartment necessities (for when I find a full-time job). Here’s the breakdown:
I love the mix of colors in this outfit. I’ve somehow managed to forget about most of the shorts I have, probably because of the cool weather we’ve been having lately. I’m determined to play up my colored shorts this summer with equally bright tops (like my yellow shorts and green plaid blouse above) this season.
