Just a little early-morning shopping trip. This spring, I plan on living in stripes … along with these destroyed boyfriend jeans. Isn’t this necklace fun? I found it at Francesca’s for $10. Score!

Happy Wednesday! This week is flying by. It’s been a busy one, but a productive one (the best kind).

Winter neutrals

Cashmere Sweater: Lands’ End (in love with this striped cashmere sweater) | Vest: Relativity (similar) | Denim: New York & Company (similar) | Boots: Franco Sarto via Macy’sBag: Banana RepublicHeadband: Forever 21 | Bracelets: Gift/Forever 21 (similar)/Banana Republic

I used to be so against wearing white in winter. It was never because of that whole no-white-after-Labor-Day rule (which, in my opinion, is completely bogus nowadays). I’ve just always been drawn to darker neutrals in the winter; but this outfit is quickly changing my mind. I love the mix of browns and creams! In spring, I plan on wearing this cashmere sweater with an army vest on a chillier day.

I’m headed back to the Indiana/Michigan area today! My brother is getting married this weekend, and I can’t wait to see family and friends I haven’t seen since moving to Omaha!

Getting ready

How was your weekend? My friends surprised me with an early birthday trip on Saturday (more about that later this week), and I’m looking forward to birthday celebrations later this week and taking a vacation to Utah to visit my parents next week! I hate to wish time away, but I really do hope this week flies by (as does the 13-hour drive to SLC).

As I mentioned in Friday’s post, I’m trying to get as much out of my summer wardrobe as possible before the cooler temps get here. These yellow shorts were a new purchase this season, and rather than pair them with stripes (like I have in the past here), I kept things simple and basic with a lightweight denim blouse and summery accessories.

Simple pieces

Blouse: Goodwill (similar) | Skirt: Kohl’s (similar) | Wedges: Relativity (similar) | Bag: Michael Kors (very similar) | Sunnies: Lauren Conrad (similar) | Ring: Kate Spade via TJ Maxx (similar) | Cuff: Gift (similar) | Nails: Essie’s Mint Candy Apple

After a stellar Goodwill trip last week, including finding the Michael Kors I’m wearing in today’s post, I’ve had Goodwill on the mind. My roommate and I may or may not have made two trips to two different Goodwills at two different points in the day yesterday. We’re addicted.

I love that these seemingly simple pieces come together to make one of my favorite outfits to date. You can’t go wrong with creamy lace, chambray and straw.

A little lace

Dress: TJ Maxx (similar; romper version here) | Wedges: Relativity (similar) | Bag: Francesca’s (similar) | Rings: BaubleBar/Forever 21Sunnies: Urban Outfitters

I’ve worn this dress a time or two before, but never has it been seen on my blog. I love the crocheted-lace detailing that wraps around the side of the dress. It was less than $20 at TJ Maxx and a great addition to my summer dresses. It was 95+ degrees on the day I wore this, and the lightweight dress helped me stay relatively cool in the heat and humidity.

Is anybody else dreaming of fall yet? I must admit that I’m quickly getting there. It wasn’t help that every magazine has a fall fashion preview, and I can’t help but think I won’t get to wear anything fall-like until the end of September when it finally begins to cool down slightly.
