Denim Jacket: Abercrombie (old) | Dress: Forever 21 | Wedges: Relativity | Bag: Francesca’s | Sunnies: Lauren Conrad | Necklace: Macy’s | Rings: Banana Republic/Forever 21/Charming Charlie
My wardrobe a few years ago consisted of jeans, shorts, more jeans and a few skirts and dresses here and there. I’ve slowly tried to accumulate more dresses and less jeans, and even though I work from home and don’t have a necessity for slightly more-formal wear, I still find myself reaching for those recently-acquired dresses and skirts. This particular dress was only $20 from Forever 21. Come the warm, summer heat, I’ll wear it sans a jacket, but for now while we’re still experiencing a cool spring, I want to get as much out of layering as possible.
Have a great long weekend, everyone!
Orange is very quickly taking over my closet. I searched for a few weeks for an orange bag and found one at Francesca’s, only to find more and more orange items (like these wedges) making their way into my wardrobe the following weeks. Who knew orange accessories could be so versatile? Even come fall, these will work into my wardrobe perfectly!

Forever 21 is my sweet spot for jewelry. I can go in to any given Forever 21 and come out with some amazing accessories. The great part is that they’re inexpensive, but if you treat them right, they can last a long time.
This skirt is one of those I couldn’t exactly justify purchasing (even though I got it at Goodwill) because it just didn’t seem to be something I’d want to wear. The jury’s still out on the skirt, but I will admit I love the slightly more casual feel the denim of the blouse brings to the silk of the skirt.
Sometimes the best outfits are those that need minimal accessories beyond a fantastic (vintage) bag, a bright pop of color and poppy lipstick. These pieces are what I reach for on those mornings when I feel I have absolutely nothing to wear. Nothing says springtime like nautical stripes and a trench.
What pieces in your closet do you reach for when you “having nothing to wear”?

As I mentioned on Twitter/Facebook a few weeks ago, I am not a pink polish type of gal. I’m not even really a super colorful outfits type of gal. If you could look at my closet, you’d see 70% neutrals and probably 30% color. But after seeing Lucky’s editorial spread in the January issue of (very) colorful outfits, I decided to take a risk. After all, it’s the new year, so why not try something new? I must admit that the end result was something I loved. Would I have ever put these pieces together — all in one outfit? Probably not. Ever. But I’m glad to know that I can be proven wrong. Bring on the color, 2013!
