As I’ve mentioned before once warmer weather hit us here in Omaha, I find spring to be the hardest transition as far as outfits go. You never know if it’s going to be chilly outside but too warm inside, etc. I’ve found that during these transitional months, it’s best to work with light layers and make small updates to keep your outfit spring-friendly.
For instance, boyfriend jeans are perfect for this time of year. Had I worn a similar outfit in the dead of winter, I would have paired this jacket with a cashmere sweater, skinny jeans, and knee-high boots. But with a few small updates, like flats instead of boots and cotton instead of cashmere, my outfit becomes oh-so-springlike and works indoors and out.
Happy, happy weekend! What are your plans? The weather is supposed to cool down for us, unfortunately, so I’m hoping for a movie marathon and possibly a game night.

Lately when I’ve been shopping for basics, I’ve gravitated toward items with special touches. Forget boring, basic navy trousers! Hello, slouchy and silky navy trousers. Forget your boring, basic black blazer! Hello leather-sleeved black blazer! I’ve been craving everything with leather details this fall, so a blazer like this was at the top of my must-have list.
So who watched the premiere of New Girl last night? Don’t tell me what happened! I’m still catching up on season two … but I plan to be caught up by next Tuesday’s episode.
What do you look for in basics? Tell me in the comment section below!
