City bikes

Top: Macy’s | Denim: Elle | Flats: Target | Bag: Vintage Coach | Rings: Macy’s/Forever 21 | Nails: Essie’s Resort Fling

Happy Monday! Oh, wait … it’s Tuesday. My four-day weekend/vacation has really set me up for a confusing week, but it was well worth it. Stay tuned later this week for more pics from my trip to Southern Utah to visit a few of the national parks.

As far as my outfit goes, I know I can always count on some shopping during a trip to Utah to spruce up my wardrobe. This top from Macy’s was less than $10, and it makes me want to hop on a bike and take a ride around the city. (I wish I had room in my apartment for a bike — here’s hoping it happens one day! A fold-up bike is on my wish list at the moment.)

An eclectic find

Jacket: RACHEL Rachel Roy via Macy’sTop: Macy’s (similar) | Denim: Kohl’s (and on sale!)Heels: Vince Camuto via TJ Maxx (metallic version) | Necklace: Gap (similar) | Bag: Thrifted (similar)

Bring on Monday! Is it just me, or did this weekend fly by? I wore this outfit yesterday while gallivanting about town; after church, friends and I headed out for brunch, some exploring and a little shopping. All in all a lovely weekend!

Let’s talk about this jacket: the mix of print and textures is right up my alley. It’s the perfect spring jacket, ideal to throw over any T-shirt with flats for a casual Saturday morning or even dressed up with heels and trousers for a day at the office.

Happy Monday!

When in doubt, wear a hat

Sweater: Loft (on sale and more colors here) | Denim: Elle (similar) | Boots: Giani Bernini via Macy’s | Bag: Phillip Lim for Target (in love with this mini polka-dot version) | Hat: Forever 21 (similar) | Necklace: Von Maur (similar)

When in need of some hair help, I wear a hat. When nothing seems to be working accessory-wise, I wear a hat. Hats are my go-to (proof here), especially wider-brim fedoras. Come spring, though, I may be integrating a few more baseball caps (insert collective gasp here) into my regular wardrobe.

How was your weekend? After a spectacular girls’ night on Friday, we went to see The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (pretty good, in my opinion) and topped off the weekend with homemade sweet potato fries. Bring it on, Monday!

Winter neutrals

Cashmere Sweater: Lands’ End (in love with this striped cashmere sweater) | Vest: Relativity (similar) | Denim: New York & Company (similar) | Boots: Franco Sarto via Macy’sBag: Banana RepublicHeadband: Forever 21 | Bracelets: Gift/Forever 21 (similar)/Banana Republic

I used to be so against wearing white in winter. It was never because of that whole no-white-after-Labor-Day rule (which, in my opinion, is completely bogus nowadays). I’ve just always been drawn to darker neutrals in the winter; but this outfit is quickly changing my mind. I love the mix of browns and creams! In spring, I plan on wearing this cashmere sweater with an army vest on a chillier day.

I’m headed back to the Indiana/Michigan area today! My brother is getting married this weekend, and I can’t wait to see family and friends I haven’t seen since moving to Omaha!

Shades of brown

When it comes to spending the afternoons out and about working at a local coffee shop, I like to stay casual and warm. For me, this means a blouse and/or a sweater, jeans and a pair of boots, topped off with a lightweight wool coat and a ridiculously fuzzy scarf.

Have a good one and stay warm, friends!
