City bikes

Happy Monday! Oh, wait … it’s Tuesday. My four-day weekend/vacation has really set me up for a confusing week, but it was well worth it. Stay tuned later this week for more pics from my trip to Southern Utah to visit a few of the national parks.

As far as my outfit goes, I know I can always count on some shopping during a trip to Utah to spruce up my wardrobe. This top from Macy’s was less than $10, and it makes me want to hop on a bike and take a ride around the city. (I wish I had room in my apartment for a bike — here’s hoping it happens one day! A fold-up bike is on my wish list at the moment.)

Day one in SLC

In case you couldn’t tell from the complete change of landscape on my Instagram account, I’m currently spending a couple of weeks in Salt Lake City with my parents! Because of Good Friday and the long weekend, I’m considering this my spring break, so I’ve been spending time working during the day and exploring the city during my off time.

This is what I wore during my first full day here in SLC: my go-to anorak, a fun leopard short-sleeved sweatshirt (that I haven’t worn since fall) and studded flats. The perfect outfit for running around the city and eating at this place (breakfast for dinner!).

We’re heading down to southern Utah to explore Bryce Canyon and Zion during the long weekend, so I’ll be back with new posts next Tuesday! Stay tuned to my Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts to keep up with my adventures!

Kimono

Kimono: Target | T-Shirt: Gap | Denim: Elle | Flats: Target | Bag: Thrifted | Necklace: Borrowed from Liz

I must admit that I’m not normally a kimono/fringe type of gal. For the most part, I’ve always left that up to people who are much more carefree than I am (whereas I will almost always prefer a structured jacket). But this kimono spoke to me, and it just so happened to go perfectly with what I was already wearing last week. It was a true match made in Target heaven.

(P.S. If you’re looking to buy your own $20 kimono from Target, I’d recommend sizing down.)

Gingham and army green

I’m a neutrals junkie (my closet is filled with them), but when spring fever hits, colors start making appearances. Take this pink gingham blouse, for example. Bright sunshine and this blouse were made for each other. I do find that I still incorporate lots of neutrals into my spring wardrobe — just in lighter, warm-weather appropriate colors (like this army green vest or taupe bag).

Is it Friday yet?

Weekend update

Wow. Is anyone else shocked by how quickly the weekend flew by? My weekend was packed: taxes (four hours and five-plus phone calls to my financial-planning dad), shopping, room/office rearranging, a Sephora event, cronuts, a walk to get frozen yogurt, a walk around a local lake/park, making a giant pot of vegetable stew, a flat tire (Liz’s second flat tire this year), and a low-key concert. Needless to say, it was a very busy weekend but a very fulfilling one.

P.S. When it comes to weekend wear, I’m all about denim and stripes. This cropped trench? I bought it a few years ago at F21 and it has worn beautifully — proof that if you’re picky about what you buy at the trendier stores, they can last you a long time. (I couldn’t find a F21 cropped trench online, but here’s a fun trench they’re selling in leopard.)
