Staple of the month: May

Vest: Target | Shirt: Saint James via Saver’s | Skirt: Goodwill | Heels: Target | Bracelets: Dillard’s/Forever 21

Denim can be tricky for the office, but a denim vest? Completely doable for your 9-5! I wanted to style the vest in an office-appropriate way, with a bit of a twist. Last year’s obsession was mixing leopard and stripes, and I think this year it’ll be flowers and stripes.

Can you believe it’s Monday already? I had the best weekend, including a trip to the farmers market, a walk downtown, a few great movies, dinner with a new friend and some amazing food. Can it be Friday yet?

Can I stay here, please?

So far, Utah has been a blast. Today will only be our third full day here, which means plenty of adventures are still to come. Yesterday was spent exploring Salt Lake City (which is actually my birthplace), so I got to see our old house and stompin’ grounds. The downtown area is beautiful, too. Can I stay here, please? Here’s the breakdown:

Shirt: Gap
Shorts: Goodwill
Sandals: Maurices (similar here)
Sunnies: Franco Sarto via Marshalls
Earrings: DIY
Watch: Garage sale
Bracelets: Dillard’s/Nadria (c/o Vogue)
Bag: Delia’s (very affordable version here)

Obviously stripes were a must-pack for me, and luckily I found this very nautical Gap shirt a few weeks ago (and somehow had the patience to save it until vacation). For a relatively hot day, a simple yet colorful short-and-T-shirt combo were absolutely necessary.

Are we really that old?

The weekend was, as usual, a blur. Besides doing a little shopping and working, I attended a friend’s baby shower. I’m getting to that point in life when a lot of friends are beginning to get married and have kids, which is exciting but also weird. Can we possibly be old enough to act like grownups? To be parents? I guess so. But it’s still weird. And exciting. Here’s the breakdown:

Dress: Tucker for Target via Garage sale
Flats: Vera by Vera Wang via Kohl’s
Bag: Brahmin (c/o Vogue)
Sunnies: Forever 21
Earrings: Gift (similar here)
Watch: Garage sale
Bracelets: Dillard’s/Forever 21/Goodwill/My grandma’s

My dress is my latest and greatest garage-sale find in my closet. I found it last Friday for only a dollar, and I have a feeling it’s going to come in handy for the summer wedding season. My new flats coordinated perfectly with the print, and these flats are proof that you don’t have to buy immediately whatever catches your eye. I saw these back in March, contemplated buying them when they went on sale, but then waited until they went on clearance for $12 (down from $60) to buy them. Success!

Graduation day was one big blur, from waiting outside for almost an hour just to enter the ceremony to seeing the many faculty, staff and friends who made my college experience the best ever. We had a beautiful, sunny day, which made the ideal barbecuing weather after the ceremony. Here’s the breakdown:

Dress: Elle via Kohl’s
Wedges: Relativity via Carsons
Necklace/Cuff: Gifts
Bracelets: Dillard’s/DIY

An easy dress made wearing the polyester graduation robe bearable, and I made sure to choose a dress that I could wear throughout the summer but wouldn’t break the bank. Comfortable wedges and some silver accessories (can’t forget those!) rounded out the look.

A big thank you goes out to my friends and family for supporting me on Saturday, as well as to my fellow wing-mates who either graduated or watched us graduate. I love you all!

Easy breezy (like CoverGirl)

Today is the day, folks. I’m done with my last huge assignment of the semester, and I’m pretty much done with all my homework. What a relief! I can’t wait to take a breather for these next few days until graduation happens in 10 days or so. Here’s the breakdown:

Blazer: Lauren Conrad via Kohl’s
Blouse: H&M (similar here)
Skirt: Kohl’s
Sandals: Dolce Vita for Target (similar here)
Bag: Brahmin (c/o Vogue)
Cuff: H&M
Bracelets: Dillard’s/Forever 21/My grandma’s
Watch: Garage sale

This outfit is the result of a busy day during which I had to transition from class to a cookout to an awards show. While it might not be the ideal cookout ensemble, it certainly transitioned well from class to the awards show. I just slipped on a pair of these. Almost as easy breezy as CoverGirl.
