Sometimes the making of a good outfit is all in the details — gold details, that is. I love my gold-heeled flats, and even though I’ve been wearing them a lot over the past few weeks, this is the first time they’re making an appearance on my blog.
Holla that it’s Wednesday! The first half of my week was front-loaded with a ton of work, but luckily the rest of my week is smooth sailing. Here’s to ending the week with a balanced schedule and routine!
This has been my uniform as of late: flowing cardigans and boots. Whatever I can wear to stay warm, I will wear. And yes, even though I wear contacts and have real glasses, I am indeed wearing fake glasses. They were too cute to pass up; also, it didn’t help that Elizabeth was there to pressure me into buying them (so she could wear them).
What’s on your plate for the weekend? I’m going to a Winter Olympics opening ceremony viewing party tonight and can’t wait to unwind after an insanely busy work week.
When cold weather hits, my staples consist of a warm sweater, skinny jeans and a touch of shearling (or fur). And when I’m unable to wear a necklace (I learned the hard way that certain necklaces snag or rub off on this particular sweater), my go-to accessory is always a hat.
How was your weekend? Did you tune in for the Super Bowl? After catching a few minutes of the game, including halftime, we tuned in for Downton Abbey and Sherlock. Masterpiece trumps sports every time. Priorities, people.

Up until this year, I stayed far away from lighter-colored neutrals (white, ivory, cream, nude, blush). I don’t know if you’ve ever watched What Not to Wear, but Stacy and Clinton immediately threw every piece of clothing out that resembled the color of oatmeal. Oatmeal has not been a color in my wardrobe ever, but after finding this Tory Burch sweater for a steal of a deal, I decided I could make it work. I wanted to keep the rest of my outfit in the same color palette, so beige, tan and cognac were the colors of the day. To keep the sweater from completely washing out my very pale skin, I wore a pretty berry-colored lip gloss to add some brightness to my face.

I used to be so against wearing white in winter. It was never because of that whole no-white-after-Labor-Day rule (which, in my opinion, is completely bogus nowadays). I’ve just always been drawn to darker neutrals in the winter; but this outfit is quickly changing my mind. I love the mix of browns and creams! In spring, I plan on wearing this cashmere sweater with an army vest on a chillier day.
I’m headed back to the Indiana/Michigan area today! My brother is getting married this weekend, and I can’t wait to see family and friends I haven’t seen since moving to Omaha!
