Spring’s ups and downs

Sometimes you think your locale is the only place that has spring-weather mood swings, but if Salt Lake has anything to say, it’s reminding me that Omaha is not the only city with crazy weather. From sunny and in the 80s one day to windy, rainy and nearly snowy the next, this weather has thrown me for a loop. On a recent sunny day here in SLC, I pulled out this Anthropologie top I bought on super clearance in late winter and even — gasp! — sandals for the first time this year!

Day one in SLC

In case you couldn’t tell from the complete change of landscape on my Instagram account, I’m currently spending a couple of weeks in Salt Lake City with my parents! Because of Good Friday and the long weekend, I’m considering this my spring break, so I’ve been spending time working during the day and exploring the city during my off time.

This is what I wore during my first full day here in SLC: my go-to anorak, a fun leopard short-sleeved sweatshirt (that I haven’t worn since fall) and studded flats. The perfect outfit for running around the city and eating at this place (breakfast for dinner!).

We’re heading down to southern Utah to explore Bryce Canyon and Zion during the long weekend, so I’ll be back with new posts next Tuesday! Stay tuned to my Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts to keep up with my adventures!

Gingham and army green

I’m a neutrals junkie (my closet is filled with them), but when spring fever hits, colors start making appearances. Take this pink gingham blouse, for example. Bright sunshine and this blouse were made for each other. I do find that I still incorporate lots of neutrals into my spring wardrobe — just in lighter, warm-weather appropriate colors (like this army green vest or taupe bag).

Is it Friday yet?

Happy Friday! I’m celebrating with a relaxed look: a loose-fitting blouse and boyfriend jeans. We’ve had spectacular weather these past few days, which means I’ve been wearing boyfriend jeans nonstop.

How you are planning to celebrate the weekend? My plans include bowling, attending Omaha’s Saint Patrick’s Day parade downtown, and spending as much time outside in the beautiful weather as possible.

Omaha Fashion Week

Last Friday night, Jeni (middle), Liz (right) and I headed to midtown Omaha for part one of the two designer showcases during Omaha Fashion Week. It was truly amazing to see the talent and innovation we have in our local area, both in fashion and in makeup and hair artistry. There were some breathtaking dresses I wish I could get my hands on. You never know which up-and-comer will strike it big in the fashion industry, and there are some very worthy candidates in Omaha! (P.S. Did you know Thakoon grew up in Omaha? Fun fact!)

OFW will certainly be on my must-attend list each season. I can’t wait for fall!
