Overtaking my closet

Blazer: Marshalls | Chambray Blouse: Banana Republic | Denim: American Rag | Wedges: Elle | Necklace: H&M | Sunnies: Urban Outfitters | Bag: Maurizio Taiuti

Stripes are overtaking have overtaken my closet; my most recent striped purpose was this blazer. I’d be looking for a nautical-esque blazer with navy and white stripes, and I finally found one (on clearance, no less) at Marshalls a few weeks ago. I’ll definitely be pairing this in the later summer with shorts, but for now, I’ll make due with skinny jeans, a chambray blouse, wedges and a pop of color.

Lobster lovin’

Sweater: Forever 21 | Denim: Elle | Wedges: Elle | Sunnies: H&M | Bracelets: Banana Republic/Forever 21 | Rings: Atlantic-Pacific for BaubleBar/American Eagle | Nails: Essie’s Naughty Nautical

Before the weather gets obnoxiously hot and humid, I wanted to wear my lobster sweater again (last seen here) while my roommate, Liz, and I checked out a new (to us) downtown coffee shop to spend the afternoon working at. I went for an easy and casual look with boyfriend jeans, wedges and loads of silver jewelry (with a subtle nod to all things nautical with my anchor ring I bought a few years ago).

I’ve got my blue shoes on

Dress: I Heart Ronson | Denim Jacket: Abercrombie | Heels: Nine West via TJ Maxx | Necklace: Forever 21 | Bag: Vintage Coach | Sunnies: Urban Outfitters | Ring: Banana Republic | Nails: Essie’s Naughty Nautical

Nothing is easier to put together than a silky summer dress and a pair of colored heels (with the obligatory denim jacket for those crazy-cold air-conditioned rooms). I played off the green specs in the dress with my cocktail ring and tiger necklace (which, if you’ve followed me for a while, you know I have quite the collection of tiger jewelry).

What do you have going on this weekend? I’m planning on hanging out with new friends and exploring an art festival in the Old Market area of downtown Omaha — oh, and getting some good use out of the pool at our apartment!

Lace and ladylike tweed

Jacket: Banana Republic | Lace Shirt: Macy’s | Denim: Elle | Wedges: Target | Bag: Brahmin (c/o Vogue) | Necklace: Macy’s

Luckily, we’ve had cool enough weather lately that wearing jackets isn’t out of the question yet. This Banana Republic one is a fairly recent purchase that I bought on super clearance. I’m not usually one for any shade of white, and when I bought this jacket, I promised myself I’d have to wear it with color to brighten up my pale skin. I sacrificed color for a mix of textures (tweed and lace), but the result is classic and a little edgy — and I like it.

Easy and breezy

Blouse: Banana Republic | Denim: Elle | Sandals: TJ Maxx | Bag: Brahmin (c/o Vogue) | Sunnies: Urban Outfitters | Ring: Kate Spade via TJ Maxx | Nails: Essie’s Sunday Funday

While I tend to gravitate toward more structured pieces for the majority of my wardrobe, I will make the occasional exception for something billowy. This blouse has the ideal amount of flow and easiness to it, and the best thing is that it needs nothing more than a simple silhouette (skinny jeans) to complement that ease. It’s certainly not a complex outfit, but sometimes the simplest of outfits are the ones that work the best — especially when you work from home but don’t want to wear pajamas or sweats.
