When it comes to dressing in a snap, I keep things straightforward and simple. For instance, yesterday the carpet-cleaning guy stopped by my apartment while I was still in my pajamas (oh, the perils of working from home), so I threw this outfit on before heading out the door to work at a coffee shop for the afternoon. I haven’t worn my chambray blouse for quite awhile, so I paired it with the first pants I could grab out of my closet and the easiest shoes I could slip on.

Little orange dress

Dress: Kohl’s | Wedges: Banana Republic | Bag: Rachel Rachel Roy via TJ Maxx | Cuffs: Forever 21

After ranting about how few dresses I owned that I actually liked, I found this chiffon dress at Kohl’s for a steal of a deal — in one of my favorite colors! For as much as I love neutrals, I seem to gravitate toward orange fairly often. Usually I end up purchasing accessories in orange, but this dress was so light in such a fun color that I couldn’t pass it up (especially with wedding mania beginning this weekend).

Neons

Jacket: Gap | Dress: Prabal Gurung for Target (last year) | Sandals: TJ Maxx (last year) | Necklace: Topshop via Nordstrom Rack | Bag: Banana Republic | Sunglasses: LC Lauren Conrad

I’ve never been one to partake of the neon trend that seems to happen in some form or another each spring, but this dress from last year’s Target collab with Prabal Gurung was too good to pass up. There’s nothing better than a bright, flirty dress to make summer dressing enjoyable.

What’s on your plate for the weekend? I’ll be heading to Chicago for a couple days for some pre-wedding festivities and catching up with a few old friends. Have a good one!

Black and white simplicity

Kimono: Target | Top: Kohl’s | Denim: J Brand | Sandals: Sam Edelman | Bag: Brahmin (c/o Vogue) | Rings: Forever 21, Banana Republic, Macy’s, Baublebar

Oh-so-happy Thursday! I’ve been in Ohio for the past few days, and after yesterday’s storm blew over, we’ve had upper 60s and lower 70s for temps. I’m in heaven!

Black and white will forever be one of my favorite combinations. I’ve updated it with a kimono (so good and only $20 from Target). I’ve also been into buying up every slouchy T-shirt I see lately, and this one from Kohl’s is soft, the perfect amount of slouchy and a killer price.

Clean and simple

Often my favorite outfits are those that are clean and simple — and the best time for that kind of dressing is summer. During the cooler months, I want to layer and pile blazer on top of vest on top of shirt. But in summer, I’m forced to keep things simple, and nothing says that better than a T-shirt and jeans. The way to keep it interesting? A pop of color and print, along with updated jeans in white. (It is post-Memorial Day, after all, if you’re into the old-school fashion rules.)
